How can we support negotiations and make them successful?
Your union's success at the bargaining table begins with the flight attendants and is an upward flow of information from the flight attendants to your negotiations committee. AFA is a democratic union--elections will be held for the leadership officer positions in the union.
The best ways to support your union is to:
• fill out a membership form
• complete surveys
• vote in elections
• participate in council meetings
• and wear your AFA union pin with pride
Please download the attached membership form and provide to any coworker who has not submitted one; or refer them to our website, www.afacompass.org in order to download a form. Completed forms can be placed in Jay Krohn's vfile in MSP, Catriona Bagley's vfile in DTW.
If you need a forms, bagtags or pins, please contact Sam Ward our Structure Chair at supplies@afacompass.org. You may also contact any Membership Coordinator representative.

Learn more about AFA at www.afanet.org. ******************************************* AFA Pins When we sent our first post election communication to you, we initially thought that wearing our AFA pin on our uniform was something that might need to be negotiated. However, we are happy to confirm that this is not the case. As a unionized group we have the legal right under the law to wear a union pin on our uniform. A few days ago, AFA attorneys sent a letter to Compass Airlines illustrating the legal cases and references to our legal rights. We attached a copy of this letter to you in our last eline. Previous legal cases allow union members to wear a form of identification to identify one another; it is noted that Delta Airlines flight attendants also have been wearing the pin on the outside of their uniforms. A copy of this letter is attached again for you to carry with you in your flight bag should there be any questions from co-workers you run into during your travels. So absolutely go ahead, wear your pins with pride, know your rights and be proud. If you have any questions, run into any issues or have any concerns, please your union officers, Catriona and Jay, immediately. Dues: When do we pay them?
Did you know that Compass flight attendants will only start paying dues when our first contract is voted on and approved by the Compass flight attendant group and not a day before?
****************
Would you like to be involved in your union?
We need volunteers for our membership mobilisation force. If you are comfortable: talking to other flight attendants; telling them the benefits of being an active AFA member; volunteering your time during your airport appreciation sits in the crewrooms to encourage flight attendants to fill out CPZ AFA membership forms; being proactive in reaching the ultimate goal of getting your first CPZ contract; we need you!!
Contact us to be a mobilisation membership coordinator.

Did you know there is a difference in being an active AFA member and a non-active member?
When our first contract is voted on and approved by the whole CPZ flight attendant group, all CPZ flight attendants will benefit from their contract. BUT only active AFA members: will have a voice in what goes into their contract; be eligible to vote in officer elections; be eligible to vote in contracts etc. If you are paying dues you may as well have a say in what happens to your contract, so become a member.
